Dar Destine said she moved to New York because she was chasing her Sex and the City fantasy. She was juggling a demanding lifestyle, working full-time at an agency and managing side hustles at the same time, when she realized dressing a certain would not cut it anymore.
“Comfort became a higher priority for me, but I still wanted to be fly,” she told Travel Noire.
When she started her fitness journey in 2020, she started exploring activewear. And while she found some good brands, Destine was searching for fashionable pieces. She couldn’t find anything, so she created her own.
Glow Activewear is for women like her: go-getters who love activewear for its versatility and comfort but still want a bold look.

“When someone opens their package I hope they feel empowered and celebrated,” said Destine. “I’ve spoken to women who reward their hard work or treat themselves with our sets, and it’s the best feeling. That kind of interaction inspires me to keep going with Glow. It’s motivation. So when someone finally receives their items, I hope it inspires and re-energizes them as well.”

Breaking into the industry amid a pandemic had its challenges and growing pains, but she’s not letting that stop her.
“I acknowledge and honor the low points, then get back to business. I’ve found peace and empowerment in keeping my focus on the solution rather than the problem,” she added.
Looking ahead, Destine hopes that Glow Activewear will be a global brand and on the shortlist when women think of stylish athleisure.
“One area I’m really excited to venture into is travel gear. Like many women who travel often, investing in activewear is how I avoid overpacking. Because the pieces are so breathable and dry quickly they’re an easy choice for any adventure really. In 10 years we hope to be offering designs that really cover a wide range of activities in our lifestyles.”
