Getaway Partners With Walmart To Bring Travelers The First Mini-Retail Experience In Nature
Getaway, known for its quaint cabins across the U.S. has partnered with major retailer Walmart. The partnership will help travelers access nature more easily. Mini-retail experiences known as The General Store by Walmart will allow travelers to shop for necessities while immersing themselves in nature.
This is Getaway’s first official retail partner. Carlos Becil, Chief Experience Officer at Getaway says, “In partnering with Walmart, we are able to amplify our efforts to a larger audience and provide our guests with more free time, helping them prepare for their stays and enjoy the comforts of nature once they arrive.”
You can find The General Store by Walmart at select Getaway Outposts this fall.
What is The General Store?
This mini-retail experience will allow travelers to shop for seasonal products, hiking gear, campfire equipment, and more. Items are sourced from Walmart and curated by Getaway’s outdoor experts.
Travelers will no longer have to venture out to find everyday items.
For the first six months, travelers will receive Welcome Kits, including ingredients to make s’mores.
Supporting small businesses
In addition to selling necessities sourced from Walmart, The General Store will feature items from local small businesses. Getaway and Walmart are committed to supporting local communities.
“Walmart’s partnership with Getaway furthers our mission to help people Live Better no matter where they are,” says Casey Schlaybaugh, Vice President, Brand Marketing, Walmart US.
Where will The General Stores be located?
The first General Store location will open this month at Getaway Hill Country in Wimberly, Texas.
Additional General Stores will open in 2022 at Getaway Machi-Moodus in Moodus, CT; Getaway Big Bear in Running Springs, CA; Getaway Western Catskills in Roscoe, NY; and Getaway Ozark Highlands in Osceola, MO.
There will be 28 total locations opened before 2022.
“In partnering with Walmart, we are able to amplify our efforts to a larger audience and provide our guests with more free time, helping them prepare for their stays and enjoy the comforts of nature once they arrive,” says Becil.
