By Mitti Hicks
From its markets, cuisines, and stunning architecture, Marrakesh is a place that should be on every traveler’s bucket list.
As an economic hub in Morocco, Marrakesh mixes chaos beautifully with rich culture and traditions.
Your first stop in Marrakesh should be a visit to the city’s souks and markets. Souks are places where goods such as fabrics, jewelry, ornaments, and spices can be purchased. Here is where you will find some beautiful hand-crafted treasures.
Another top destination among tourists is the Marrakech Museum. Located in the center of the city, the visit to the museum is worth it alone. Housed in the Dar Menebhi Palace, the museum is an excellent example of Andalusian architecture.
Lastly, be sure to experience a traditional Moroccan hammam. Also known as a Turkish bath, Moroccans visit hammams weekly as bathing and spiritual ritual. Hammams are more than just a fancy spa. In Moroccan culture, they are rooted in Islamic tradition as an act of cleansing one’s ablutions.
