A Black Expat From New York Documents Life In Paris While The City Is On Lockdown
Tiffanie Davis moved from New York City to Paris back in 2017 to get her Master’s in Business Administration in International Luxury Brand Management from ESSEC Business School.
The Massachusetts-native told Travel Noire, “I was craving an international experience and was excited about the opportunity to not only study but travel the world with my MBA program. This program unlocked a world of opportunities for me in Paris.”
As an expat in Paris, Tiffanie says she makes it a priority to take a few trips every year given her proximity to various destinations. Unfortunately, like so many, her travel plans are postponed indefinitely in light of the current coronavirus pandemic.
Like so many cities around the world, Paris is on lockdown. Tiffanie documented her day-to-day life in Paris during the lockdown on her YouTube channel.
Tiffany chatted with Travel Noire, to further explain her personal life given the circumstances.
Travel Noire: Do you feel isolated being away from family?
Tiffanie: It’s been tough to wrap my mind around not being with family during a time like this; especially with the situation escalating so quickly and unpredictably. But, thanks to FaceTime (and my Parisian tribe who’s been keeping me sane) I’ve been riding this wave like a champ… for now. Cosmically speaking, I do think that we’ve been presented with an opportunity to connect with friends and family more than ever, which I’m absolutely taking advantage of.
Travel Noire: How are you getting through the situation and keeping busy?
Tiffanie: It was a shocker at first; in less than a week I went from making dinner plans with friends to standing in a 20-person line at a grocery store. Now that I’ve settled into the ‘new normal,’ I’ve been having some fun creating content for my YouTube Channel to share my experience living abroad during this time.
Travel Noire: Anything else you would like to tell us that I didn’t ask?
Tiffanie: It’s a challenging time for everyone across the world – my heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones, and those whose lives have turned upside down as a result of the pandemic. I encourage everyone to stay uplifted however they can; send those positive vibes up, take the time to do things that bring you peace, connect with friends and family, and then some. And most importantly; stay safe, stay healthy, and stay inside!
