Starting this December, Ethiopian Airlines will start flying to West Africa nonstop from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

 

This new route begins Dec. 17 to Lome, Togo (LFW).

 

According to Ethiopian Airlines officials, this new route will be the only and first of its kind to connect West Africa with the west coast of the United States via a direct flight.

 

LAX will join Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) as being the only two US cities to offer nonstop flights to six continents.

 

Ethiopian Airlines, deemed as Africa’s largest and fastest growing aviation group, announced the new flight to West Africa earlier this week. The flight to Togo will serve as a layover for flights heading to Addis Ababa.

 

The distance between LAX and LFW is approximately 7,600 miles, and the direct flight between the two cities will take about 14 hours.

In addition to the flight to Togo, the airline is starting a new route from Addis Ababa to Dublin via Madrid on Dec. 15.
