Speaking in Nathan Phillips Square at the 2019 NBA Championship victory parade for the Toronto Raptors, Drake announced that after taking a year off, OVO Fest will return to Toronto in 2019.

“I hope that all these guys will join me this year, ’cause we’re bringing OVO Fest back so I hope we can go crazy,” he said.

Drake founded OVO Fest in 2010. The annual weekend-long concert is hosted by Drake in his hometown of Toronto and features performances from some of his favorite acts, celebrity friends, and the rapper himself. It often coincides with Caribana in Toronto, which is the first week of August each year. However, Drake has not held the festival since 2017.

Earlier this week, RBC Bank announced that they would be teaming up with October’s Very Own (OVO) to debut the inaugural OVO Summit on Friday, August 2, 2019. OVO Summit will be a conference geared towards Canadian creatives and lifestyle entrepreneurs who are looking to hone their skills, grow their careers, and make a lasting impact on the creative economy in Canada.

“By convening Canadians with different backgrounds, skill sets, talents, and aspirations, OVO Summit celebrates the potential of the next generation,” said Matt McGlynn, Vice-President, Brand Marketing of RBC.

“Whether you’re an athlete, student, artist, or a globally-recognized institution like OVO or RBC, one thing we all have in common is we’re always chasing new ideas and information to help us on our path to success,” said Oliver El-Khatib, Co-Founder, OVO. “OVO Summit is our chance to curate a relevant educational experience for all the like-minded, driven young Canadians who are passionate about careers in music, sports, arts, and entertainment.”

It’s likely that OVO Summit will serve as a kick-off for OVO Fest. Tickets for the summit go on sale June 24. Details about ticket purchases for OVO Fest have not been made available yet.
