If you have an appointment at the global entry office, you’ll have to reschedule.
The offices are closed due to the government shutdown, and you can thank President Trump for that. So if you were thinking about applying or renewing your membership in the customs clearance program, you’re pretty much out of luck right now.
Appointees will have to wait for an email because there is no mention of the office’s closing on the Customs and Border Protection website. One traveler affected by this said that Customs and Border Protection sent her an email to let her know about the situation. The email said that all Global Entry Enrollment Centers are closed temporarily and they should reschedule appointments “after US government operations resume.” Here is what the CPB website says:

“Due to the lapse in federal funding, this website will not be actively managed. This website was last updated on December 21, 2018, and will not be updated until after funding is enacted. As such, information on this website may not be up to date. Transactions submitted via this website might not be processed and we will not be able to respond to inquiries until after appropriations are enacted.” Unfortunately, we have no idea when the Global Entry offices will be open again. Officials are advising travelers to look out for cancellation emails. Other government agencies that are affected by the shutdown are national parks, the Food and Drug Administration, Federal Housing Administration and more.
Offices that aren’t affected are Border Patrol, Social Security, Medicare, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program and Women, Infants and Children, Smithsonian Museums and Zoos and more. Transportation outlets like flights and Amtrak are not affected by the government shutdown.
