In today’s world, you want to make sure you capture everything on camera, especially when you’re on vacation. You want to relive the memories, but there are some moments that you want to keep to yourself.

That’s what happened to one couple after they found a camera pointed at their bed on a cruise ship. The Florida couple says they discovered a recording device hidden with TV wires in their stateroom last October while on the Carnival Fantasy, a three-day Caribbean cruise that left from  Mobile, Alabama.

Talking to Inside Edition, Chris White said, “Is that what I think it is?” “And she looked at it and she became concerned. And we were just really flabbergasted that there’s a camera in the room and it’s plugged up and it’s working.” The couple immediately alerted Carnival security and made sure to film the cruise ship employee while they removed the device. Carnival gave a statement to USA TODAY acknowledging the fact that a “video transmitter” was found during a full investigation by the shipboard team, but notes it “was not connected to an electrical source and not capable of recording,” something White just doesn’t believe.

White made it clear that the device “was a camera. It was wired up. It was working. It was warm to the touch.” Carnival also said in their statement “this is certainly a unique and unusual occurrence and it is unclear who or why this transmitter was placed in the guest’s stateroom.” They continued, “the safety and security of our guests and crew are of paramount importance and we have taken measures so that this sort of situation does not happen again.”

Following the incident, the transmitter was turned over to the FBI for further inspection, and the Whites were “advised of the involvement with law enforcement,” however the couple feels as if their trust was completely broken. Dana White told Inside Edition that her peace of mind was robbed. “I just immediately felt like we had been invaded; our privacy had been invaded,” she said.
