American Airlines Announces New Nonstop Routes To The Motherland
With the continent of Africa being one of the most sought after regions to travel to this year, travel companies and brands are taking note. 2019 marks this official year of return and many have found themselves wanting to travel to the Motherland to take part in various festivities and to simply reconnect with their roots.
Major U.S. carrier, American Airlines, announced today that it would soon offer nonstop flights to Morocco. This is the airline’s first route into the continent.
The new routes will begin flying June 4, 2020, from Philadelphia into Casablanca, Morocco. They will run three times per week and you can begin reserving your seat for these flights starting August 12.
“Our customers and team members have been asking when we’re going to start service to Africa, and I couldn’t be more pleased to make this announcement for service beginning in 2020,” said Vasu Raja, American’s Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning. “We look forward to working with Royal Air Maroc when they join oneworld® in 2020, which will allow for even more connections further into Africa to places like Marrakech, Lagos, and Accra. This is only the beginning.”
In addition to the new Morocco option, the airline will be adding 3 new weekly flights to Tel Aviv, Israel from its hub in Dallas, Texas. They’re also expanding their European offerings.
Earlier this year, United announced its nonstop service to South Africa. At the end of 2018, we also saw African based Kenya Airways add a new nonstop route to and from New York City.
These added routes are only the beginning of what is possible to come between U.S. and African relations. We can guarantee that those looking to connect more with their roots will appreciate these options.
