It was a scary moment for passengers aboard an American Airlines flight at Chicago O’Hare Airport Monday morning after a plane slid off the runway upon arrival.

A spokesperson from American Airlines confirmed that “American Eagle flight 4125, operated by Envoy Air, slid off the runway” during landing due to icy conditions.

Passengers were flying into Chicago O’Hare from Greensboro, North Carolina. The plane slid off the runway after its landing gear snapped, tipping the jet onto its wing, CBS Chicago is reporting.

“After landing, all 38 passengers and three crew members were deplaned from the aircraft and are now safely back in the terminal,” an American Airlines‘ spokesperson told Travel Noire in a statement.

Passengers were removed from the plane and transported via bus to an airport gate, Karen Pride, the director of media relations for the Chicago Department of Aviation, told USA Today.

No injuries were reported, officials confirmed.

Cancellations After Winter Storm

The incident comes amid a winter storm in the Midwest that has resulted in delays and flight cancellations across the region.

At least 305 flights were canceled at O’Hare International Airport by about 8:30 a.m. local time, according to NBC Chicago.

In addition, delays at O’Hare were averaging around 85 minutes for arrivals and 47 minutes for departures.

Across town, approximately 93 flights were canceled at Midway, with delays there averaging less than 15 minutes.

A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect across most of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service, parts of the Chicago area could see up to six inches of snow as a result of the storm.
