American Airlines Ditching Carry-on Bag Fees
Perhaps one of the biggest changes on American Airlines is their recent announcement of allowing one free carry on to all destinations on its Basic Economy fares stating Sept. 5. This change means that you can say good-bye to that $25 gate service and bag fees when checking a carry-on bag at the gate.
Another change to anticipate from American is premium economy seating on international flights and selected flights to Hawaii –which is good news for you since the airline also recently announced nine new routes to Europe.

A service only offered to passengers in first class will has made a debut in economy. The airline announced that it is testing a three-course, fine bistro experience on international flights.

Frontier Becomes Elitist
Frontier has announced that they are revamping its frequent flyer program and adding elite-status tiers for members, which comes with additional perks and benefits. Formerly called EarlyReturns, the airlines’ FRONTIER Miles program added family benefits to its program and updated its credit card so cardholders have more ways to earn miles.
Southwest Overhauls Pet Policy
Southwest announced changes to its policies for trained service and emotional support animals. Starting Sept. 17, customers will only be allotted to bring one emotional support animal; limited to only dogs and cats.
The animal will have to remain in a carrier or on a leash at all times. Passengers will need to present a complete, current letter from a medical doctor or licensed mental health professional on the day of departure.
United Airlines To Add Fees For Seats Near Front of Planes
United Airlines will charge an extra fee for economy seats near the front of the plane. According to reports, the change is expected to happen later this year. Rival airlines, Delta and American, have this practice in place.
