Here Are The Most Affordable Countries To Study Abroad
With rising college tuition costs in the States, leaving many graduating students with overwhelming debt, it may be time to look at international options. Living and studying abroad offers unparalleled cultural experiences that can only come with global travel.
According to Study International, these are the most affordable places to study abroad.
Norway
Norway tops the list for it affordable education system that offers many students free schooling at top universities, where students are only expected to pay for their living expenses.
According to the website, education at public universities in Norway is typically free for everyone, EU and non-EU students, but you may have to pay a small semester fee of about $56.
However, the cost of living in Norway is a bit high with an estimated student living budget of around $1,400/month.

India
According to Study International, India is home to thousands of higher education institutions and was ranked 26th in the QS Higher Education System Strength Rankings 2018, which assess the overall strength of higher education in each country.
They also note that frugal students could easily live off around $4,500/year.

Taiwan
Taiwan offers another option for an affordable education with undergraduate courses costing around $1,500 to $1,800 per semester and around $1,600 – $2,000 per semester for a Masters or Ph.D. at their top university, National Taiwan University (NTU). Since there are only two semesters in their academic year, you are looking at between $3,364 to $5,276 per year for schooling.
Though housing and utilit costs can be high in Taiwan, food and transportation are very cheap, offering students a high quality of life.

South Africa
South Africa is home to the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, two top-ranking universities with incredibly affordable tuition. QS states that the “University of Cape Town’s 2017 fees ranged from $3,800 – $4,600 at undergraduate level. At [the] master’s level throughout the country, fees range from $1,800 – $5,000 per year. Specialized postgraduate courses and MBAs can cost up to $29,300.”
The low overall costs of living and an incredibly vibrant cultural and social scene make this an ideal location for international students.
