Fall road trips allow you to take in the beautiful scenery while enjoying the cool weather. You get to enjoy the orange and yellow leaves, historic towns, and breathtaking mountain peaks, which are great for climbing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

Whether you plan on embarking on a road trip with your friends or the fam, here are 9 destinations perfect for your next trip this Fall.

Burlington, Vermont

Stop through Mirabelle’s Cafe and Bakery for the finest chocolate and cake pastries in Burlington. Its a short six-hour drive from New York, which is nice if you want to see the great outdoors and the mountains in between. You can also rent sailboats, canoes, kayaks, or take a scenic cruise near Lake Champlain.

Boston, Massachusetts

Opened in 1914, the Mohawk Trail is one of the first official scenic tourist routes in the country. Drive slow and truly take in the view, or hike up the trail with some friends. Go before mid-October because roads can be pretty hazardous due to snow and ice. Boston also has a wide variety of Carribean-influenced restaurants you can check out.

Fresno, CA

Before the summer is over, hop in the car and take a road trip to Fresno. Cali has one of the most beautiful coastlines I’ve ever seen. The city boasts unique boutiques, trendy restaurants, and a plethora of must-see city attractions to choose from like the Fresno Blossom Trail which has 62-miles of flower, fruit and nut trees.

Washington, D.C.

A weekend road trip isn’t enough to see all that Chocolate City has to offer, but it’s enough to pique your interest into coming back sooner. D.C. is the perfect place to enjoy historical museums, southern comfort eateries, African-inspired bookstores, and other thriving black-owned businesses. Be mindful of the rocky areas and steep slopes during a winter hike at Sky Meadows State Park, which is just an hour away.

Indianapolis, Indiana

If you enjoy amusement parks, scenic beaches, cool architectural buildings, and acres and acres of trees and trails, come to the state known as the “Crossroads of America.” Indianapolis is a central location with cities like Nashville and Columbus less than 50 miles away.

Newport News, Virginia

Plan your next Fall getaway to Newport News. The city has over 180 campsites at Newport News Park, a short drive from Virginia Beach, which is perfect for strolls on the beach. The Mariners’ Museum and Park hosts weekly and monthly events centered around art, culture, and interactive workshops.

Asheville, North Carolina

Champagne, live music, and a classic book to read sounds like the perfect addition to any road trips to me, especially at the Battery Park Book Exchange. Enjoy even more wine at America’s Most-Visited Winery, The Biltmore Estate. Experience fine dining, harvest-focused menus, unique shops, historic gardens and more.

Sedona, Arizona

Photographers will enjoy the picturesque mountain ranges and rocky mountain peaks in Sedona. Make sure to visit Cathedral Rock, Grand Canyon, and other suitable locations for mountain biking, and hiking trails. The staff at Pink Adventure Tours comes highly recommended for excellent customer service and a thrilling, two-hour jeep tour.

Pink Jeep Tours

San Antonio, TX

History buffs will love touring the Alamo and exploring the Mission San José. Hotel Emma greets you with their signature drink, La Babia margarita, after check-in. This 19th century themed hotel has a library, spa, and riverwalk. suitable for romantics.
