The Windy City has some tempting pop-ups to lure you out into the cold for some unique experiences this winter. The pop-up scene in Chicago is stepping up, from January and beyond, Chicagoans and visitors have much to look forward to.

Dear Margaret is turning 1!


Head over to celebrate Dear Margaret’s first birthday on Monday 17 January. True to its Canadian roots, expect an abundance of Canuck Burgers, poutine, Labatt’s and plenty of shots of Canadian whiskey.

This much-awaited slice of Canada in Chicago will be a celebration not to be missed. The event will be 5pm until food runs out.

Barbie’s Luxury Rentals Pop-Up Shop

This month, Barbie’s Luxury Rentals will host another edition of its pop-up shop which will feature an exciting range of food vendors including Happy Taco, Barbie’s Catfish and I Heart Grits. The pop-up shop for Black-owned businesses at the MDM Dance School will be held on Sunday 30 January.

An intimate gathering for food lovers of the best national dishes Chicago has to offer will appreciate this dinner at River Roast. Chef Cedric Harden of River Roast and Chef Darnell Reed of Luella’s Southern Kitchen will grace the Chicago community with a multi-course meal presented inter signature styles and paying homage to the origin of the dishes themselves.

Tickets are available online and  proof of vaccination and photo ID are required. Event is Wednesday 12 January, 6.30pm.

Sweet Liberty x Soho House Chicago

Looking for some tropical sun to make-up for the cold Chicagoan nights? Soho House and Sweet Liberty have you covered, with the Miami Beach cocktail bar vibe making a much welcomed appearance in the city.

The one-month residency will see your favorite summer cocktails paired with Paper thin’s signature thin-crust pizza and a DJ every night. Be sure to head down between January 14- February 12 in the lobby bar at Soho House.

Hogwarts Themed Vert Harry Winter Celebrations

 

Good news for Harry Potter fans, Replay Lincoln Park is extending its Hogwarts themed Very Harry Winter celebration until the end of January. With the bar dressed in Harry Potter-inspired decor and the cosplay contest in the full swing, it is the perfect way to keep the January blues at bay with Diagon Alley-type of joy.

The event is for 21+ visitors and proof of vaccination is required.
