There’s a reason over one thousand people have given Sofitel So five stars on Tripadvisor: the design is modern, the location is unparalleled to none, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive.

After checking in, I was greeted by the staff, who welcomed me with their signature jasmine colored and lemongrass infused welcome drink. With my drink in hand, I walked to the room and instantly felt at home. The design aesthetic was incredibly similar to my own: bright, airy, clean, and wooden elements sprinkled throughout.

From every vantage point, the hotel offered a panoramic view of both the city’s dramatic skyline and the lush Lumpini Park. The staff informed me that residents often rented paddle boats and bicycles throughout the day. However, since Bangkok was in the middle of an intense heat wave, at 106 degrees Fahrenheit, I wasn’t bold enough to risk it.

Since I’m a major foodie, my favorite part of the hotel was visiting Red Oven, the hotel’s market-style restaurant. The restaurant featured most American classics (think, omelets and cereal bar), with even more interesting Asian options (like, endless pad thai & ramen and shashimi).

And as if the delicious food wasn’t enough, the city view continued to stun!
