Wilmington, Delaware has a brand-new luxury boutique hotel. According to Travel + Leisure, the Quoin recently opened in the city’s historic downtown area. Philadelphia hospitality brand Method Co. worked with Delaware real estate developer The Buccini/Pollin Group to bring the concept to life.

The 24-room hotel is situated in a four-story brownstone that was formerly the Security Trust & Safe Deposit Company Building. The Quoin’s interior was designed in a modern yet traditional, minimalist style, featuring an eclectic look and Victorian-era colors.

According to Travel + Leisure, “Each of its guest rooms and suites has a unique layout with original features such as arched windows and moldings, vintage rugs, luxury king-size beds, custom furniture, and a curated collection of artwork, including photography by David Burnett. Bellino bed linens and Aesop toiletries complement the in-room amenities.”

Each detail in every guestroom and space is infused with character, from the shaker-inspired decor to its use of plants and greenery Method Co. creative director, Daniel Olsovsky worked with Philly’s Stokes Architecture on the design. The goal was to give the hotel a feel that was more “residential and homey.”

“Our design inspiration came from a variety of sources, from psychedelic rock to ’70s furniture to art nouveau. But, I would say our biggest inspiration would probably be the earthy colors and forms found in the nature of this region, which can be found throughout the floral motifs in our fabrics and wallpapers and the soft, organic lines of our furnishings,” Olsovsky said in an interview with Travel + Leisure.

“We are strong believers that Wilmington is one of the greatest cities in the United States and hope that any draw our hotel’s restaurant and bars bring will help showcase all the treasures of this area.”

The 155-seat Quoin Restaurant & Bar is the hotel’s signature restaurant where Chef Ed Pinello prepares dishes inspired by Northern Italian and Southern French cuisine. The Quoin is also home to the first rooftop bar in Wilmington, where guests can enjoy craft cocktails while taking in views of the courtyard and the steeple of Wilmington’s Old Town Hall.

Simmer Down, the hotel’s cocktail lounge, boasts a custom mural painted by Philadelphia artist Reverend Michael Alan. Guests can also take advantage of the coffee bar, gym with Technogym and Peloton fitness equipment, and an event space with both indoor and outdoor sections.
