When you think about some of the happiest places in America, what comes to mind? Other than your bed and a few liquor stores, you probably thought of Disney World. Disney is truly a magical place and will uplift the grouchiest of spirits. Many folks haven’t had the chance to experience the magic of Disney World, but they’ve probably been close by flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is a gem of an airport that offers a bite-sized taste of what the city has to offer. If you’re looking to enjoy the vibe of Orlando without leaving the airport, I’ve set out my best finds right here for you.

@travel.noire Wait – did yall know Orlando International Airport (MCO) had all of THIS!? 😍FedEx offices to ship what you can't carry, authentic Disney experiences, resort-style restaurants…see it for yourself! 🎥 @Harmony #harmonyguides ♬ original sound – Travel Noire

Postal Services (Main Terminal)

You know I’m your favorite airport security officer, so I know a thing or two when it comes to confiscated items. I love the fact that MCO has several mail drop boxes, both located in the main terminal and at the checkpoint. You even get to choose between UPS, FedEx & USPS services.

Magic of Disney (Main Terminal Before Security)

Did you forget to pick up a souvenir? Well, you’re in luck because you can buy authentic Disney merch straight from the airport. They literally have everything — well, at least the bare necessities.

Look around and get a taste of Disney right here in the airport.

SeaWorld (East Hall Before Security)

Dive deep into this tank that is SeaWorld. This small shop gives the same vibes of the actual park and allows you to purchase the same exact items you would if you were there. Also, not too far from this location, you’ll find “Universal Orlando”. Here you’ll find merchandise and souvenirs as well.

Xpress Spa (Main Terminal, Gates 30-59 & Gates 1-29)

I live for a spa, so I was so happy to find that MCO has so many quick spa areas. Xpress Spa offers many packages but if you want something simple and quick, I recommend the “XpresSpa Relaxation Lounger.”

The Club MCO (Gates 1-29 & Gates 70-99)

Airport lounges can be beneficial if you’re on a long layover. The thing I don’t like is, most lounges don’t allow you access if you’re not flying on a certain airline. Annoying right? Luckily if you’re at MCO, they have their own lounge and allow access to all passengers no matter what airline they’re flying with. You can purchase a day pass for $45 and get access to all the amenities including snacks, alcoholic beverages, shower facilities, private workstations and more.

Nature’s Table (Food Court, Gates 30-59)

If you’re looking for a healthy delicious food choice, Nature’s Table delivers. I absolutely love the salads, all of them are great. My favorite dish from here is the Mediterranean Chicken Wrap.

COVID-19 Testing Clinic (West Hall & Main Terminal)

As COVID guidelines start to phase out, many airports believe it’s necessary to give travelers access to COVID testing areas. This is great, especially if you’re traveling internationally and need a negative test result for your destination.

MCO offers two testing clinics for your use. Both are located before going through security.

Natalie’s Candy Jar (Main Terminal)

Have a sweet tooth? This candy shop offers upscale chocolates and candies prepared fresh. This shop has only a few locations in the states so it’s worth checking them out.

Cask & Larder (Gates 100-129)

This restaurant, in my opinion, is the best restaurant in MCO. From the gorgeous scenery to the delicious food, this place is simply a wonder. I spent literally two hours here just relaxing and sipping on delicious cocktails. It literally feels like you’re sitting in a treehouse. It has a stand-alone bar and market for you to explore as well. I recommend trying the Chicken & Waffles. Thank me later!

Looking to support a Black-owned business while at the Orlando airport? Consider stopping by Wrap N’ Fly for their luggage wrapping services. The company provides luggage wrapping, storage, delivery, stroller and car seat rentals.

Wrap N’ Fly was founded by Kenneth “Kenny” Watkins in 2013. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2021 at the young age of 45. So, if you stop by, make sure to show some love and support to the Wrap N’ Fly team.

Harmony Quick Tip

Orlando is one of the few airports that currently offer passengers the opportunity to schedule their security check-in in advance via Clear. You’ll skip the traditional line and report to the reservation line. Reserve your time slot here.
