Every day, essential workers sacrifice their health to provide services for those who are in need. That is especially true for medical workers in New York, where the coronavirus has taken a major toll on the community. For those medical workers, they are not only concerned about contracting the virus themselves but are especially worried about exposing their families to the virus when they go home. The Four Seasons on East 57th Street has stepped in to help relieve some of their stress by making them an offer that could protect their loved ones.

The luxury hotel, which has closed reservations to the public until at least mid-April, has offered doctors, nurses, and other medical staff free lodging during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our healthcare workers are working tirelessly on the front lines of this crisis,” said Ty Warner, the chairman of Four Season’s corporate owner, said in a statement to WCBS.

The midtown hotel is conveniently located near several area hospitals in New York City including Bellevue, Mount Sinai, NYU Langone, and Weill Cornell Medical Center, making it much easier for medical personnel to commute to and from work daily.

“Many of those working in New York City have to travel long distances to and from their homes after putting in 18-hour days,” Warner said. “They need a place close to work where they can rest and regenerate. I heard Governor Cuomo’s call to action during one of his press conferences, and there was no other option for us but do whatever we could to help.”

It is Governor Cuomo’s hope that more hotels will follow suit as New York City’s coronavirus cases have quickly risen over 17,000, 3,805 of which have been hospitalized.

The Four Seasons on 57th has 368 rooms which can cost over $1,000 per night. Governor Cuomo sent his appreciation to the luxury hotel for accommodating medical workers.
