Yes, July means Independence Day and for some, it’s typically used as an extra day off or a short vacation. But after the holiday, there are still roughly four weeks left in the month of July.

Don’t let July pass you by without taking a well-deserved vacation. Here are some of the best destinations to visit and why:

San Diego, California

San Diego’s mild weather is just one of the few reasons to visit in July. The other reasons to visit are for fun and entertainment during this time of year.

For starters, the food, music, and other entertainment options at San Diego’s County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds make it one of the best in the country. The last day to visit the fair is on July 4. While you’re there, the city puts on an entertaining fireworks show for the Fourth of July.

Also happening in San Diego during July is the largest Comic Con from July 18 through July 21.

And if you want to relax more, San Diego has miles of beaches for you to enjoy.

Montreal, Canada

The biggest jazz gathering in the world is happening in Montreal this July.   The Montreal International Jazz Festival, which runs from June 27 to July 6, was named the largest jazz festival on the planet by Guinness World Record.

In addition to the Jazz festival, Montreal offers a ton of free things to do in July from the street fairs, Canada Day festivities, the Montreal Circus Arts Festival from July 4 to July 14.

Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul summers are perfect. The moderate temperatures will make this the perfect time to visit.

What’s better than the weather? Istanbul and the coastal city of Ankara won’t be saturated with tourists during this peak time for travel.

During your stay, be sure to visit the Grand Bazaar, Sultanahmet, and other historical sites. Don’t forget to experience the joy of an authentic Turkish kebab.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen will be extremely warm this July but like Istanbul, it’s a place not on many people’s radar.   That means you can enjoy some of the world’s prettiest beaches without the crowds and for a fraction of the price it would normally cost because visitors tend to travel there during the winter and spring months.

Around July 16, get ready for the Festival of the Virgin Carmen. Locals celebrate the festival with parades in the street, BBQs on the beach, and colorful parties at bars and clubs across town.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

The twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, offer double the entertainment options during the month of July.

Each year, the Aquatennial Festival, a massive celebration known by locals as the Best Days of Summer, takes over Minneapolis with music, film festivals, fireworks, parades, to celebrate the city of Minneapolis and its people, as reported in Vacation Idea.
